The Men's Choral Federation is resolute in fostering the growth of, and collegial relations between, men’s four-part vocal groups in New England.
More than one hundred years ago, in 1919, the late Herbert J. Burney conceived of the idea of having a federation of men's glee clubs in New England. Since that time over thirty-five clubs have been members. Joint concerts and even contests have been hosted for numerous singing groups in nearly every large city in New England. While we are no longer a membership organization, we turn toward a revitalized future welcoming new men's vocal groups to share the beauty and joy of music. In 2023, to honor the diversity of today’s music landscape, the NEF (New England Federation of Men's Glee Clubs) changed its name to: "The Men's Choral Federation" (MCF).
Over the years, the MCF has evolved into a grant gifting organization. The Men's Choral Federation proudly awards grants to men's four-part vocal groups wishing to organize events and activities (e.g., performances, competitions, fundraisers, symposiums, vocal lecture series...). Additionally, for over one hundred years, the Men's Choral Federation has amassed an extensive library of TTBB sheet music that groups are welcome and encouraged to borrow.
The Men's Choral Federation strives to be a welcoming and supportive community of men's four-part vocal groups. It seeks to foster collegial relations among men's vocal groups in New England.
The MCF strives to celebrate and recognize the value and efforts of men's four-part vocal groups. We encourage all to use our website to provide a common link to men's vocal groups throughout the region to share a diversity of resources.
